Pitch Tips
The pitch is where your
writing needs to be very
concise and snappy. Get to the point! This is not the
place for an elegantly constructed logical argument; it is where you
have to
grab their attention and make them want to speak with you. Tell
your story as succinctly as possible. A pitch or press release is
really designed to make the reader want more information, be it an
interview or a request for your book or product. Therefore:
- Ask direct questions, tell them up front
what you can offer.
- If you want them to request your book, ask
them
right away - get to the point!
- Tell them what it is you can offer them
- Write out 5-10 questions they can ask you
during your interview. They may not use them, but it will get
them thinking
- Try to tie your subject or area of expertise
to
a current story in the news. - Be timely!
- Use some formatting - do not go overboard,
but
99pr.com will send HTML formatted email with basic formatting
