Scheduling Your Interview
Given the frantic pace
the Radio world operates on, your best bet here is to be flexible,
timely and responsive to all
communications from producers or bookers. Whether you are
contacted by phone
or email, always confirm the interview by email. When confirming,
you want to include everything relevant about the interview in every
email. Always confirm specifically:
- Time of day, Date, Year - Sounds simple,
but these details often get overlooked!
- Time Zone - very important to coordinate
these. You would
hate to be an hour late because you mistook the time zone!
- Contact numbers - whether your numbers or their
numbers, include them in all your correspondence. Include your
cell number, alternate and emergency contact numbers
- Alternate contact information - put in any
alternate contact email or phone numbers here - just in case
Additionally,
you may want to include links to your site or even the pitch if
your correspondence is not on a reply message. The point here is
to provide context to the interview. Your interview may be a few
days away and possibly dozens of guests later. Having all the
relevant information about you and your topic in one email is generally
very helpful. Often this will be passed along to the interviewer right
before the interview.
